摘要: We assessed wildlife predation on livestock and poultry the implications for predator conservation in most important rainforest areas of south-east Mexico. estimated economic impact identified variables correlated to frequency four communities adjacent Calakmul Montes Azules Biosphere Reserves. did participant observation interviews with 161 residents during January–September 2010. recorded 2,861 deaths from by wild carnivores over previous 3 years. Opossums (n = 677 events), raptors (n = 676) ocelots (n = 539) were responsible highest numbers killings. Poultry constituted main target predators (n = 2,548 deaths). Sheep (n = 201 events) cattle (167) affected large such as jaguar Panthera onca puma Puma concolor. Economic losses be USD 55,600 years communities. Predation was positively (r2 = 0.87, P < 0.05) but negatively associated prey abundance (r2 = 0.96, P < 0.05). Better husbandry practices focused safety location enclosures reducing overabundance dogs regulating hunting rural may help mitigating conflict between rainforests
