摘要: This study describes the first isolation of H9N2 avian influenza virus (AIV) from commercial bobwhite quail (Colinus virginianus) in Egypt. Infected birds showed neither clinical signs nor mortality. Virus and real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction confirmed presence cloacal swab samples collected at 35 days age absence other AIV subtypes, including H5 H7. The hemagglutinin neuraminidase genes isolated 99.1% 98.2% nucleotide identity 97.3% 100% amino acid identity, respectively, to those viruses currently circulating poultry Middle East. Phylogenetically, Egyptian was closely related G1-like lineage neighbouring countries, indicating possible epidemiological links.
