摘要: Summary The dynamics of bovine besnoitiosis were studied in an area where the disease is endemic. A four-year longitudinal study was conducted for first time three infected beef cattle herds located Urbasa-Andia Mountains (Navarra, Spain). Each herd visited four to seven times, and clinical serological prevalence rates incidence estimated. Clinical inspections identify compatible signs with stages at beginning end study. Serological assessment initially performed by ELISA. Seronegative animals seropositive relative index per cent (RIPC) values lower than 30 that did not increase during period analysed Western blot optimize sensitivity specificity ELISA test. slightly higher (62% on average) seroprevalence (50% average), tissue cysts vestibulum vaginae sclera most frequently detected signs. The proportion varied from 16.7% 73.6% among herds, 17% proved be seronegative both tests. An average 22% rate also reported addition 12.5% 16.7%. Additionally, parasitemia investigated showed highest rates. Only one PCR positive blood sample detected. Thus, role may play parasite transmission needs further investigated. Infected maintained high absence control measures a number carriers. Finally, economic impact studies reproductive productive losses associated need implement cost–benefit programme.
