摘要: Abstract We explore the use of Hymap (hyperspectral mapper) to remotely map unique geothermal indicator minerals over Brady–Desert Peak fields. Geothermal-related and rocks such as sinter, tufa, sulfates, display diagnostic characteristics in visible shortwave infrared; their presence distribution can be used guide more detailed field work for exploration. The fields are located about 80 km east Reno, Nevada Hot Springs Mountains. North–northeast-striking en-echelon faults offset Tertiary volcanic lacustrine rocks. Two power plants produce electricity from two separate systems, one with numerous fumaroles mudpots, other showing no active surface expression activity. Surface occurrences gypsum, calcium–carbonate, hematite, opaline silica were identified at both sites hyperspectral data; these when considered together indicative activity sites. Mapping results synthesized spatial data a geographic information systems (GIS) database that was help draw structural interpretations faulting fault controls area. same processing methods applied new sets future exploration Great Basin, especially areas lack obvious thermal expressions.
