摘要: Abstract Background: Glaucoma is an important public health concern in the United States, particularly among older adults (aged ≥65 years). Pharmacologic therapy for glaucoma comsists mainly of topical eye drops containing beta-blockers or prostaglandin analogs. Objective: The goal this study was to assess associations between factors medication use (self reported compliance, belief benefit use, usage difficulty, assistance, and complexity regimen) health-related quality life (HRQOL) a cross-sectional population patients with glaucoma. Methods: A self-administered, 48-question survey soliciting information on medication-taking behaviors, treatmen-trelated factors, HRQOL mailed members Medicare maintenance organization who were aged years had primary open-angle Two mailings conducted 4 months apart; second sent whose responses first mailing not yet been received. 12-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-12) 25-Item National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire (VFQ-25) used HRQOL. Other questions addressed perceptions drop these patients. Multiple regression techniques analyze medication-related population. Results: questionnaire 589 patients; 375 responded (218 157 mailing). total 358 complete analyzable (effective response rate, 62%). After controlling effects other confounders, we found that self difficulty using strongly associated decreased (11.5% VFQ-25 score 8.4% SF-12 mental score, P Conclusion: Based our findings, likely have significant comorbidity, which affected both visual general well-being perception. Additionally, proportion medication, independently decrease Care should incorporate strategies minimize use.
