摘要: Chronic diseases have a long-term negative impact on quality of life (QOL). Decreased QOL is associated with increased financial burden healthcare systems and society. However, few publications investigated the glaucoma patients' in comparison other chronic observed patients similar demographic characteristics. To this end, systematic literature search to assess three (osteoporosis, type 2 diabetes mellitus dementia) was performed. A total 146 were identified that reported using six commonly used generic instruments: 36-, 12- 20-item Short-Form Health Surveys (SF-36, -12 -20), EuroQoL (EQ-5D), Sickness Impact Profile (SIP) Utilities Index-Mark III (HUI-III). The publication breakdown as follows: (10%), osteoporosis (26%), (52%) dementia (12%); one assessed glaucoma, dementia. affected or slightly lesser degree by than osteoporosis, Among reporting SF-36, -20 evaluations, physical component scores generally lower mental across all diseases. more demographically matched non-glaucomatous controls according SF-20 assessment. EQ-5D SIP results showed decreased severity increased. Patients had lowest instrument, indicating better (no data available dementia). HUI-III instrument poorer diseases, probably due cognitive deficits. for some instruments, scarce, interpretation should be conservative. Although there are limited published studies its appears broadly serious Development measures vision-specific general health aspects would document facilitate comparisons disease states.
