摘要: Publisher Summary The congenitally athymic nude rat (rnu/rnu) is a genetic mutant found in Rattus norvegicus characterized by severe alteration the cell-mediated branch of immunity (CMI). Altered cellular immune responses are owing to lack appropriate development and education functional T-cell (thymus-derived) lymphocytes. size robustness absence major endocrinological abnormalities make it an experimental model for variety immunological, surgical, infectious, transplant-related, oncological procedures. Nude rats uniquely capable handling increased tumor burden without overt distress, additional body allows therapeutic intervention more easily than mouse. Therapeutic data anti-neoplastic studies presented terms (1) lifespan reflected relative median survival time treated verses control groups (%treated/control); (2) cures; or (3) times (in days) grow tumors predetermined target size. has demonstrated value many areas biomedical research. From basic function cells intricate interactions tumors, treatment, imaging modalities, provided robust suitable response.
