摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the processes that generate commitment to individual neuronal phenotypes in developing cerebral cortex. Studies of early cortical development reveal environmental influences apparently play critical roles determining fates neurons. Transplantation experiments indicate progenitor cells are multipotent and capable producing neurons destined for several layers. During their final cell cycle, however, make a particular laminar fate; this endows newly postmitotic with information it needs home specific layer send an axon appropriate target. In tangential domain, lineage observations migrating suggest can disperse tangentially away from point origin ventricular zone, even into distinct areas. have shown both area-specific axonal connections cytoarchitectonic features neocortical malleable, again suggesting interactions other or local environment instructive role determination fates.
