摘要: Sex differences in weight loss are often seen despite using the same program. There has been relatively little investigation of physiological influences on success males and females, such as energy homeostasis appetite regulating hormones. The aims were to 1) characterise baseline plasma leptin, ghrelin adiponectin concentrations overweight obese 2) determine whether these hormones predict females. Subjects or (BMI 25-40 kg/m(2)) adults aged 18-60 years. Weight was measured at baseline, after three six months participation a Baseline determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). An independent t-test non-parametric equivalent used any between sex. Linear regression hormone predictors six-month change. Females had significantly higher unacylated well ratios leptin:adiponectin leptin:ghrelin. ratio acylated:unacylated males. In concentration predicted greater months. Additionally total leptin:ghrelin gain A pre-weight-loss is modest predictor while failure Further required into what combinations optimal for success.
