摘要: Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are suggested to participate in ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury the kidney. This study was designed investigate effect of rutin, a bioflavonoid, I/R induced renal injury. Wistar albino rats were unilaterally nephrectomized, and 2 wk later they subjected 45 min left pedicle occlusion followed by 3h reperfusion. Either rutin (1g/kg) or saline administrated (i.p.) 1h prior ischemia. At end reperfusion period, kidney samples taken for determination malondialdehyde (MDA) glutathione (GSH) levels, manganese-superoxide dismutase (MnSOD) activity histological examination. Serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) concentrations measured evaluation function. caused significant decrease GSH level MnSOD activity, which accompanied increase MDA tissues. Similarly, serum BUN creatinine as well LDH elevated group compared with control group. Pretreatment (1g/kg/ i.p.) significantly attenuated dysfunction, reduced restored depleted levels. These beneficial changes biochemical parameters also associated parallel histopathological appearance. findings suggest that ROS play causal role injury, exerts renal-protective effects, probably inhibiting antioxidant activities.
