摘要: Plasmodial species are protozoan parasites that infect erythrocytes. As such, they in close contact with microvascular endothelium for most of the life cycle mammalian host. The host-parasite interactions this stage infection responsible clinical manifestations disease range from a mild febrile illness to severe and frequently fatal syndromes such as cerebral malaria multi-organ failure. Plasmodium falciparum, causative agent form malaria, is particularly predisposed modulating endothelial function through either direct adhesion receptor molecules, or by releasing potent host parasite products can stimulate activation and/or disrupt barrier function. In review, we provide critical analysis current laboratory evidence dysfunction during P. falciparum malaria. Future investigations using state-of-the-art technologies mass cytometry organs-on-chips further delineate parasite-endothelial cell also discussed.
