摘要: Cervical compliance increases dramatically at parturition in sheep independent of uterine activity. Recently, vitro production prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) by the cervix has been shown to increase parturition. This study investigated effects PGE2 on cervical and blood flow pregnant ewes. Eight animals were chronically instrumented with pressure balloons within os amniotic cavity, an electromagnetic probe a artery, catheters maternal os, femoral femoral, uterine, veins, fetal hindlimb vein. (10 mg) was administered water-soluble gel into every 4 hours times three doses least 5 days after surgical preparation (124 142 days' gestation). In all eight ewes, increased 8 12 posttreatment levels comparable that seen spontaneous Five ewes did not progress labor; these returned baseline 24 72 peak. Uterine measured five during treatment demonstrated no significant alterations. Maternal cardiovascular respiratory parameters monitored throughout experiment remained stable. The present data suggest may be important regulatory biochemical physical changes which occur
