摘要: To investigate the practice of hunting by local people in southern Bahia region Brazil and provide information to support implementation National Action Plan for Conservation Central Atlantic Forest Mammals, we conducted 351 interviews with residents three protected areas a buffer zone. Thirty-seven percent respondents stated that they had captured an animal opportunistically, 16% hunted actively 47% did not hunt. The major motivation was consumption but also medicinal purposes, recreation retaliation. most consumed species were paca Cuniculus , nine-banded armadillo Dasypus novemcinctus collared peccary Pecari tajacu ; threatened rarely hunted. Opinions varied on whether wildlife declining or increasing; declines generally attributed hunting. Our findings suggest there is illegal around region. Management efforts should prioritize fairness expropriation process who must be relocated, adopt approach management involves living areas, considers their needs.
