Sequence specificity of tRNA-modifying enzymes: An analysis of 258 tRNA sequences

摘要: Abstract The specificity and recognition of tRNA-modifying enzymes may be accounted for in part by nucleotide sequences which are localized next to the modifiable nucleoside. In order determine sequence enzymes, we have surveyed 55 published tRNA from Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium T4 phage. For each modified nucleoside, surrounding modification site was determined all tRNAs known contain Subsequently not containing nucleoside were examined absence putative site. We present detailed analysis 12 nucleosides found a strong correlation between local sequence. This suggests that these sites enzymes. indentified set without it. All 203 other then see if rules apply organisms, including both prokaryotes eukaryotes. several cases good adherence found, indicating conservation sequences.
