摘要: Objectives It is unclear why duration of type 2 diabetes (T2D) associated with increased cognitive compromise. High hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) has also been dementia, and the primary contributor to T2D complications. Here we investigated whether association functioning modulated by HbA1C levels. Methods This study examined nondemented community-dwelling elderly (N = 897) participating in Israel Diabetes Cognitive Decline study, who were assessed a broad neuropsychological battery. Subjects all from Maccabi Healthcare Services, which Registry complete HbA1c measurements since 1998. Partial correlations performed examine modulating effect on relationship five measures, controlling for sociodemographic cardiovascular risk factors. Results An interaction was executive (p = 0.006), semantic categorization 0.019), attention/working memory 0.011), overall cognition such that associations between impairment as levels increased—but not episodic 0.984). Conclusions Because higher no found lower levels, our results suggest individuals may limit their risk of future decline maintaining long-term good glycemic control.
