摘要: Acinetobacter baumannii is an important nosocomial pathogen, causing a variety of opportunistic infections the skin, soft tissues and wounds, urinary tract infections, secondary meningitis, pneumonia bacteremia. Over 63% A. occurring in United States are caused by multidrug resistant isolates, pan-resistant isolates have begun to emerge that all clinically relevant antibiotics. The complement system represents first line defense against invading pathogens. However, many especially those severe bacteremia complement-mediated killing, though underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here we show for time binds host-derived plasminogen identify translation elongation factor Tuf as moonlighting plasminogen-binding protein exposed on outer surface baumannii. Binding at least partly dependent lysine residues ionic interactions. Plasminogen, once bound can be converted active plasmin proteolytically degrade fibrinogen well key component C3b. Thus, acts multifunctional may contribute virulence aiding dissemination evasion system.
