Berberine and barberry (Berberis vulgaris): A clinical review.

摘要: Barberry (Berberis vulgaris L.) has different medicinal applications in folk medicine of Iran. Berberine, an alkaloid constituent this plant, is present the roots, rhizomes, stem, and bark B. many other plants. There have been clinical trials conducted that suggested a wide range therapeutic applications. Here, we investigated uses berberine treatment diseases humans. An extensive search electronic databases (PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web Sciences Science Direct) was used to identify on berberine. Lipid-lowering insulin-resistance improving actions are most studied properties numerous randomized trials. also regarding cardiovascular, anticancer, gastrointestinal, CNS, endocrine, so on. Berberine very low toxicity usual doses reveals benefits without major side effects. Only mild gastrointestinal reactions may occur some patients. The purpose review provide summary concerning improve application nutraceutical diseases. In article, 77 studies human subjects.
