摘要: Abstract Internal structures of high-performance liquid chromatographic column packing materials, including porous glass particles, silica gels and polymer gels, were studied by transmission electron microscopy. Clear micrographs the internal obtained for macroporous particles using ultrathin sections, with staining in case gels. Corpuscular seen relatively small pores, while showed a typical spongy structure. Spherical large pores range 50–500 nm from different sources possess common difference presence shell at outer surface. Several materials 30–400 nominal pore size found to be mixtures two or more kinds sizes, which accounted broad, some instances bimodal, distribution nitrogen adsorption measurements inverse size-exclusion chromatography. A bimodal was also unmixed gel one maxima range, presumably due micropores formed network microgels.
