摘要: Today we understand the brain as a dynamic, not static, organ. Central nervous system (CNS) neurons are endowed with capacity to react chemical signals presented from their microenvironment morpho-functional modifications, process termed plasticity. This phenomenon has provided foundation for studies directed at elucidating pathophysiological correlates of neuronal life and death, ultimate objective developing strategies improve neurological outcome following various types CNS insults, in particular cerebrovascular insufficiency (stroke), head spinal trauma, neurodegenerative diseases.
