摘要: The transduction of many cellular stimuli results in oscillations the intracellular concentration calcium ions (Ca2+). Although information is thought to be encoded frequency such oscillations, no decoder has been identified. Rapid superfusion immobilized Ca2+- and calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaM II) vitro showed that enzyme can decode Ca2+ spikes into distinct amounts activity. response CaM was modulated by several factors, including amplitude duration individual as well subunit composition previous state activation kinase. These features should provide specificity this multifunctional may underlie its pivotal role activity-dependent forms synaptic plasticity.
