Studies of the thermal stability of maleic anhydride co-polymers in aqueous solution

摘要: Abstract A study on the influence of temperature hydrolysis molecular weights poly(maleic anhydride- co -methyl vinyl ether) P(MAMVE) was carried out in aqueous solution. The self-association polymer chains, due to hydrogen bonding between non-ionized COOH groups and hydrophobic interactions, decreased upon increasing temperature. Concomitant that, scission chains observed. From as obtained using a multiangle laser light scattering detector (MALLS), main features degradation were determined: degree degradation, number, activation energy (ca. 70 kJ/mol) rate constant (ca 10 −9 /s). change conformation showed that desaggregation took place during first 48 h at 100°C; thereafter mechanism became predominant. It observed process favoured for pH values below 7 stability maleic anhydride co-polymers influenced by chemical nature co-monomers. side-products originating from methanol carbon dioxide (CO 2 ). During solid state co-polymer under form, CO release occurred 250°C no released. This last result confirmed solution requires presence carboxylic acid moieties.
