摘要: Summary Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) of the salivary gland is characterized by a prolonged but inevitably unfavorable clinical course. Recent studies suggested transmembrane tyrosine kinase KIT to be involved in ACC pathogenesis. To investigate expression histologically defined subgroups and clarify whether gene copy number gain contributes overexpression, tumor tissue microarray sections including 55 tumors were analyzed fluorescence situ hybridization (FISH) immunohistochemistry (IHC). The prevalence positive immunostaining was 89% (49/55). Strong only found cribriform tubular never solid subtypes ( p = 0.02). Average staining intensity higher n = 37) compared = 18) = 0.005). FISH analysis revealed gains 6.1% (3/49) analyzed. Our results implicate that specific inhibitors such as imatinib, might used future therapeutic approaches against ACC.
