摘要: Objectives To present the incidence of vestibular schwannoma (VS) in Denmark, compare with that previous periods, and discuss real VS. Design, Setting, Patients Prospective registration all diagnosed VS a population 5.1 to 5.2 million, during 6 years from January 1996 through December 2001. Incidence this period was compared 3 periods (July 1976 June 1983 [first period], July 1990 [second 1995 [third period]). Results In 1996-2001 period, 542 cases were diagnosed, representing mean 17.4 VS/1 million inhabitants per year. Of these, 227 tumors underwent operation, 14 irradiation, 301 allocated observation (wait-and-scan policy). One hundred sixty-six intrameatal. Size extrameatal small 104; medium 194; large 68; giant (>40 mm) 10. Compared incidences 7.8 year first, 9.4 second, 12.4 third for represents an increase The entire 25.5-year 11.5 Conclusions An estimate realistic depends on period. Our showed However, latest registered year, which, combined probable further forthcoming years, suggests approximately 13
