摘要: The recent discovery of hepatitis E virus (HEV) strains in rabbits the People’s Republic China and United States revealed that are another noteworthy reservoir HEV. However, whether HEV from can infect humans is unclear. To study zoonotic potential for pathogenesis rabbit HEV, we infected 2 cynomolgus macaques with an strain China. Typical developed both monkeys; they exhibited elevated liver enzymes, viremia, shedding fecal specimens, seroconversion. Comparison complete genome sequence passed inoculum showed 99.8% nucleotide identity. Rabbit RNA (positive- negative-stranded) was detectable various tissues experimentally rabbits, indicating extrahepatic replication may be common. Thus, transmissible to macaques, which suggests a new source human infection.
