摘要: Background The aim of this work was to study the expression alpha, beta1, and beta4 integrin subunits in meningiomas. Methods Seventeen atypical or anaplastic meningiomas were retrieved from files Hopital de Bellevue, Saint-Etienne, France. They compared with 17 benign consecutively examined 1997 6 schwannomas. tumors classified according standard histologic criteria. Frozen sections immunostained for alpha1, alpha2, alpha3, alpha4, alpha5, alpha6, subunits; collagen; laminin fibronectin; cytokeratin; vimentin; neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM); MIB-1. Results included 7 fibrous meningiomas, transitional 19 syncytial 2 secretory beta1 constant. alpha1 higher than Only transitional, syncytial, alpha2 detected. associated cytokeratin glandular structures whereas it NCAM whorls meningothelial receptors by tumor cells strongly correlated that their respective ligands extracellular matrix. In invasive alpha3 alpha6 significantly lower. MIB-1 proliferation index, lower alpha3. schwannomas expressed only integrins. Conclusions Each subtype meningioma has a specific spectrum expression. may have prognostic value assessment profile is valuable differential diagnosis
