Development and evaluation of an information booklet/decision‐making guide for patients with colorectal cancer considering therapy in addition to surgery

摘要: The aim of this project was to develop and evaluate a decision-making guide for patients with colorectal cancer contemplating adjuvant therapy. Initially, focus group held, then draft booklet developed, which reviewed by professionals. A subsequent revised questionnaire were mailed 24 32 professionals evaluation. Further changes resulted in the final 100-page guide, had Flesch-Kincaid reading level 8.0 DISCERN rating 5. Seventeen (71%) 22 (69%) completed questionnaire. All agreed/strongly agreed ‘informative’ ‘written way you like’ 94% considered it ‘helpful making decisions’. Professionals found (95%), pleasing style’ ‘easy understand’ (91%) felt would ‘help make decisions’ (76%), ‘be appropriate give patients’ ‘improve patient knowledge preparedness’ (100%). work aims assess impact upon outcomes.
