摘要: Patients who undergo a surgical intervention require information in the preoperative phase. Few qualitative studies are available that illuminate importance of for patients' experiences postoperative pain management. The aim this study was to examine perceptions about treatment as well its way managed A descriptive, using individual interviews performed. Content analysis employed analyze with 18 patients had undergone total hip or knee joint plastic surgery. Every second participant received verbal on standard at discussion, whereas others were also provided written information. took place public hospital, third day, between September and November 2010. revealed combination relief perceived valuable by patients. Four main categories identified: form information; content experience relief, factors influenced relief. theme "Participation" emerged from latent content. Preoperative facilitated increased patient participation. Health care professionals often ensure participate care, but latter sometimes lack desire, strength, ability become involved.
