摘要: Abstract The use of higher strength steels allows the design lighter, slenderer and simpler structures. Nevertheless, increase yield does not correspond to a proportional fatigue resistance, which makes application high on structures prone fatigue, major concern design. This paper presents comparison behavior between S355 mild steel S690 grades, supported by an experimental program tests smooth specimens, performed under strain control, crack propagation tests. Besides cyclic elastoplastic characterization, small size specimens allow assessment initiation materials. Results show that grade resistance than steel. However, is lower for grade, justifies inverse dependence static life, applications where governing phenomenon. Consequently, structural details with should avoid sharp notches significantly reduce process.
