摘要: We present 850 μm polarimetry from the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope toward several dense cores within dark cloud Barnard 1 in Perseus. Significant polarized emission is detected across mapped area and not confined to locations of bright cores. This indicates presence aligned grains hence a component magnetic field plane sky. Polarization vectors away are strongly at position angle ~90° (east north), while associated with show alignments varying orientations. There no direct correlation between polarization angles measured earlier optical Perseus submillimeter thermal emission. Depolarization high intensities exhibited but brightest core reaches threshold beyond which further decrease percentage measured. The data interior envelope compared previously published OH Zeeman estimate total strength orientation under assumption uniform nonuniform region. These results rough estimates only as result single independent detection splitting 1. thus calculated be 0 = 31 μG [±(0.52 - 0.01) 0.86] case we have assumed ratio dispersion line-of-sight 0.2.
