摘要: Polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB)-contaminated sites around the world affect human health for many years, showing long latency periods of effects. The impact different PCB congeners on should not be underestimated, as they are ubiquitous, stable molecules and reactive in biological tissues, leading to neurological, endocrine, genetic, systemic adverse effects body. Moreover, bioaccumulation these compounds fatty tissues animals (e.g., fish mammals) soils/sediments, results chronic exposure substances. Efficient destruction methods important decontaminate polluted worldwide. This paper provides an in-depth overview (i) history accidents with PCBs 20th century, (ii) mechanisms that responsible hazardous PCBs, (iii) current policy regarding control decontamination. Contemporary impacts historical incidents discussed next up date caused by their mechanisms. Methods reviewed. Steps which lead a banning production distribution overviewed context preventing future harm environment health.
