摘要: Abstract Recent trends (1980–2007) in mortality from road traffic crashes European countries, and, for comparative purposes, the USA and Japan were reviewed. Data came World Health Organisation database. Age-standardised rates, at all ages 15–24, 25–64, ⩾65 years, computed. Joinpoint regression analyses to evaluate significant changes performed. In Union as a whole rates declined 20.2 1987 13.5/100,000 2007 men, 6.3 3.7/100,000 women; remained lower than USA, but higher Japanese ones. 2007, highest male Lithuania (36.7/100,000), Russian Federation (35.2), Ukraine (29.8), Latvia (28.5), lowest ones Netherlands (6.2) Sweden (6.9); female (11.3), (9.7), Belarus, Latvia, (around 8), Switzerland (1.7), UK, Nordic countries 2). Mortality motor vehicle northern western – though lesser extent southern too. also favourable Czech Republic Poland since mid 1990’s, whereas they still upwards Romania Federation. No trend was observed Hungary Ukraine. Trends consistent various age groups considered. Thus, additional urgent integrated intervention is required prevent avoidable deaths crashes, particularly selected central eastern countries.
