摘要: We present the first results of a deep Chandra survey inner ~1° Fornax cluster galaxies. Ten 50 ks pointings were obtained in mosaic centered on giant elliptical galaxy NGC 1399 at nominal center. Emission and temperature maps are presented, an initial study more than 700 detected X-ray point sources is made. Regions as small 100 pc resolved. The intracluster gas exhibits highly asymmetric morphology structure, dominated by 180 kpc extended "plume" low surface brightness, cool (≤1 keV) to northeast with sharper edge southwest. 1404 also halo within cluster, sharpened leading it presumably falls into comet-like tail. estimate that some ~200-400 physically associated Fornax. Confirming earlier works, we find globular population active, extending clusters may fact be systems. have found remarkable correlation between location dwarf galaxies presence counterparts, such systems inhabiting regions density likely show activity. Not only does this correlate asymmetry gas, but correlates axis joining center infalling group 1 Mpc suggest experiencing either intergalactic "headwind" due motion relative surrounding large-scale structure or medium has been disturbed overall gravitational potential previous
