摘要: Summary Reasons for performing study: Constriction of the digital flexor tendon sheath (DFTS) and its contents by palmar/plantar annular ligament (PAL) is well recognised. However, primary injury PAL has not been documented. Objectives: To describe clinical features injury, determine prevalence with or without subcutaneous fibrosis and/or concurrent within DFTS, assess response to treatment. Methods: Horses were selected inclusion based upon consistent presence a thickened (≥2 mm) verified ultrasonographically. A retrospective analysis case records from 3 clinics was performed. Details breed, age use, results ultrasonographic assessments treatment recorded. treated conservatively surgically desmotomy PAL, tenoscopic evaluation DFTS. telephone questionnaire performed treatment. Results: Seventy-one horses included in study middle aged older general purpose riding predominated. desmopathy occurred more frequently hind- than forelimbs. The method treatment, thickness did significantly affect prognosis; however, <50% able return athletic function. There trend alone have best outcome. Bilateral thickening fore- hindlimb injuries had negative effect on prognosis, as simultaneous lesions DFTS. Conclusions relevance: characterised convex contour aspect fetlock, associated fibrosis. common horses, ponies cobs; bilateral enlargement often present only unilateral lameness. Treatment methods used this appear influence outcome significantly.
