DOI: 10.1111/j.1468‐0459.2011.00431.xAbstractThis study presents an automated or so‐called Svalbard archipelago on basis gridded NCEP/NCAR‐reanalysis data in a spatial resolution 2.5 × 2.5° variables sea level pressure geopotential heights 500 700-hPa levels. Self‐organizing maps were set up run several times, each time using different number clusters into which to partition data. After evaluating results all by means statistical indices we decided use nine patterns further analysis.
