摘要: The level of platelet monoamine oxidase (MAO) activity has been used as a genetic marker for certain mental disorders. purpose this study was to investigate the influence several nongenetic factors on MAO activity. Platelet MAO, count, mean volume, per cent megathrombocytes, protein, and protein density were determined in 19 normal subjects patients with two clinical conditions associated extremes count volume: 6 autoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura (ATP), characterized by low increased volume; reactive thrombocytosis (RT), high decreased volume. expressed total protein/total Patients ATP, when compared subjects, had 2.3-fold lower 2.1-fold specific MAO. RT, 1.9-fold higher 1.5-fold Platelets from RT patients, ATP 4.3-fold greater 3.2-fold separated into five different fractions. content found be heterogeneously dispersed. extreme heavy fraction 15-fold 18-fold content, light fraction. We conclude that is platelets densely packed protein. Accordingly, such changes number, which could induced stress, blood loss, iron deficiency, or other conditions, contribute density, consequently affect
