摘要: Abstract This paper presents an investigation on the material properties, residual stress distributions and cross-sectional behavior of cold-formed steel semi-oval hollow sections. Four cross-section series were included in test program. The specimens from hot-extruded seamless circular Tensile coupon tests conducted extracted three critical locations, namely flat, curved corner portions, each as well half a representative section. Membrane bending stresses section measured both longitudinal transverse directions. In addition, initial geometric imperfections for stub column to determine average stress–strain relationship over complete cold-worked state examine Furthermore, finite element model was developed validated against results. With verified model, extensive parametric study wide range geometries performed. load-carrying capacities columns obtained experimental numerical compared with design strengths predicted by Direct Strength Method using equations originally open sections Continuous curves traditional tubular comparison results show that existing methods provide conservative strength predictions. this study, modification is proposed, which shown improve accuracy predictions reliable manner.
