摘要: Among the new antibiotics investigated clinically in Houston during past two years, colistin (Coly-Mycin) has been one of most promising. This antibiotic was isolated Japan by Yosuo Koyama 1950 from culture filtrates Bacillus colistinus, a bacterium closely related to polymyxa, source polymyxins. Its pharmacology studied Japan, Italy, France, and, more recently, this country. A summary findings these studies indicates that chemical, pharmacological, and antimicrobial activity is polymyxins, Clinically, however, causes fewer undesirable side-effects. Colistin complex polypeptide, with an empirical formula C 45 H 85 O 10 N 13 molecular weight 969. acid salts are stable solution even for very long periods; alkaline less stable.
