摘要: Zooarchaeological analyses often rely on bone fragmentation, cut marks, and other taphonomic indicators to bolster interpretations of resource intensification that are based observed changes in prey types frequencies. While these assumed be good proxy measures processing effort, this assumption is inadequate actualistic data analysts conflate one or more as manifestations the same process. In paper, we present zooarchaeological from two villages occupied by Central African forest foragers with very different foraging efficiencies. These provide first case where known disparities diet breadth efficiency matched assemblages attributes. Observational quantitative show differences between access high-ranked prey, but specific such mark distribution intensity do not match predictions generated models intensification. We propose linking processes scarcity can powerful adjunctive information. However, because outcomes may associated kinds response scarcity, need strengthen validity purported rigorous independent studies.
