摘要: A proposed electron transfer pathway in cytochrome c peroxidase was previously excised from the structure by design. The engineered channel mutant shown to bind peptide surrogates without restoration of cyt oxidation. Here, we report 1.6 crystal (N-benzimidazole-propionic acid)-Gly-Ala-Ala bound within channel. retains many features native pathway: placement benzimidazole at position Trp-191 radical, hydrogen bonding Asp235, and positioning C-terminus near point where wild type CcP makes closest contact c. inability this surrogate restore function supports proposals that requires radical.
