摘要: Abstract Background Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) is an infectious disease endemic to large parts of Europe and Asia. Diagnosing TBE often relies on the detection TBEV-specific antibodies in serum cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) as viral genome mostly not detectable once neurological symptoms occur. Objectives We evaluated performance TBEV IgM IgG ELISAs both CSF confirmed patients discuss role serology diagnostics. Study design For assay evaluation we collected specimen from patients. Assay specificity was assessed using sera with a related flavivirus infection or other acute infection. A selected ELISA used analyze evaluate use confirming diagnosis. Results In this study overall sensitivity acceptable (94 -100 %). Four out five ELISA’s demonstrated excellent 94 -100% whereas low observed for (30-71%). Intrathecal antibody production against subset Conclusions four ELISAs, testing specific confirmative. The lack all emphasizes need confirmatory by virus neutralisation, depending patient’s background geographic location exposure TBEV. CSF-serum index can support diagnosis specifically chronic has disappeared.
