摘要: Abstract BACKGROUND: Allergen exposures induce growth of airway smooth muscle in the Brown Norway rat. OBJECTIVE: The purpose study was to examine role mediators associated with early and late responses induction growth. METHODS: Nedocromil sodium administered block ovalbumin-sensitized ovalbumin-challenged rats undergoing single or multiple challenges (5 times at 5-day intervals) ovalbumin. Airway quantitated by morphometry on lungs removed 2 days after final challenge. RESULTS: before ovalbumin challenge blocked both responses. When hours challenge, it also response. Rats aerosolized five intervals were treated nedocromil ( n = 10) each inhalation, respectively. quantity standardized for size greater (0.069 ± 0.005) compared saline controls (0.033 0.003, p CONCLUSIONS: Allergen-induced responses, inflammation are antagonized nedocromil. contribute allergen-induced growth, a process that can be prevented administration (J ALLERGY CLIN IMMUNOL 1996;98:400-7.)
