Synergetic effects of a matrix crystalline structure and chain mobility on the low temperature toughness of polypropylene/ethylene–octene copolymer blends

摘要: It is believed that the good toughness of β-modified polypropylene (PP) due to its easier lamellar slippage compared with α-modified PP, while improvement in PP caused by annealing increased chain mobility amorphous part PP. The aim this work reveal combined effects matrix crystalline structure and on low temperature PP/ethylene–octene copolymer (POE) blends β-modification annealing. An impact test was performed over a wide range temperatures (room temperature, 0 °C, −20 °C −40 °C) verify enhancement toughness, various characterizations were carried out inspect structural evolution toughening mechanism. results show will synergistically toughen blend reduce POE content necessary for effective tested, synergetic cavitation ability. Besides, tensile properties not be lowered This only provides more efficient way improve resistance polymers stiffness–toughness balance, but also demonstrates vital role microstructures material.
