摘要: Since the rebirth of regulatory (formerly known as suppressor) T cells in early 90's, research field immune-regulation by various cell populations has quickly gained momentum. While expressing transcription factor Foxp3 are currently spotlight, several other endowed with potent immunomodulatory capacities have been identified both CD8+ and CD4+ compartment. The fundamental difference between terms antigen recognition suggests non-redundant, perhaps complementary, functions immune-regulation. This emphasizes importance necessity continuous on sub-populations so to decipher their complex physiological relevance possible synergy. Two distinct CD8-expressing cell-populations can be distinguished based expression co-stimulatory receptor CD28. Here we review literature these (at least part) thymus-derived CD28low peripherally induced CD28neg cells.
