摘要: OF THESIS KENTUCKY WIC PARTICIPANTS’ KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES, AND BELIEFS REGARDING GRAINS Obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and poor dietary habits are major healthcare problems in the United States. These issues especially prevalent state of Kentucky among at-risk populations such as Women, Infants, Children (WIC) participants. Studies have found that whole grains play a role weight maintenance, protection against type 2 lowering cholesterol. Interventions aimed at improving participant behavior intake has been successful well. This study assessed participants’ knowledge benefits consuming grains, attitudes beliefs regarding food purchasing identified consumed two-week period. A survey, created with input Registered Dietitians staff, examined these factors. Results from survey participants might benefit education on: nutrient-dense foods (especially grains), nutrition facts panel, types nutrients calories, fat, sugar, fiber, serving sizes, how to get children eat grains.
