摘要: SUMMARY Previous studies have shown the association between polymorphisms serine (S) or aspartic acid (D) at codon 146 of PRNP gene and resistance to scrapie. All goats aged >12 months (a total 1075 animals) from four herds with highest prevalence scrapie in country were culled tested, which 234 (21·7%) positive by either rapid test immunohistochemistry (IHC) for any tissues tested. The odds infection occurring NN was 101 [95% credible interval (CrI) 19–2938] times higher than non-NN unknown genotypes. IHC applied lymphoreticular tissue produced sensitivity (94%, 95% CrI 90–97). presence putatively resistant alleles Cypriot goat population, severely affected scrapie, provides a potential tool reduce/ eradicate provided that coordinated nationwide breeding programmes are implemented maintained over time.
