摘要: Interobserver and intraobserver variability of ultrasonic, duplex carotid artery examinations was studied in a prospective, randomized, blinded clinical trial. Forty-eight patients were examined by two technologists, yielding 96 examinations. The kappa statistic calculated to determine the degree agreement corrected for chance. value between different technologists 0.476. Variability occurred at both steps examination procedure: (1) obtaining velocity waveforms (kappa = 0.536); (2) using these classify extent disease 0.609 interobserver reading waveforms). Minimal moderate categories accounted most variability. There little disagreement categorizing lesions as greater than or less 50% diameter reduction. Intraobserver rereading spectral minimal 0.842 0.894). Recognition disturbed flow patterns normal bulbs may reduce
