摘要: Well head protection areas (WHPAs) are a common planning tool for reducing the risk of contamination to drinking water supply wells. Typical WHPA delineation involves steady-state groundwater flow modeling with deterministic backward particle tracking. However, WHPAs based solely on models ignore or simplify processes outside saturated zone and neglect important dynamic transient effects. The comprehensive watershed- modelling tool, MIKE SHE, can treat many management issues in an integrated fashion, at wide range spatial temporal scales. SHE was recently used Denmark evaluate uncertainty associated delineation, which is ignored traditional, delineation. A sensitivity analysis done determine 16 most sensitive parameters. Then, using SHE's automatic calibration Monte Carlo utilities, nearly 1000 simulations were distributed across local intranet take advantage idle computer resources night. results this that likely contribute wells and, thus, optimize restrictions stakeholders.
