Growth Hormone (GH) Responsiveness to Combined Administration of Arginine and GH-Releasing Hormone Does not Vary with Age in Man*

摘要: At present, the mechanism(s) underlying reduced spontaneous and stimulated GH secretion in aging is still unclear. To obtain new information on this mechanism(s), responses to both single combined administration of GH-releasing hormone (GHRH; 1 μg/kg iv) arginine (ARG; 30 g infused over min), a well known secretagogue probably acting via inhibition hypothalamic somatostatin release, were studied seven elderly normal subjects young healthy subjects. Basal levels similar groups, while insulinlike growth factor/I lower (76.7 ± 9.2 vs. 258.3 29.2 μg/L; P = 0.01). In aged GHRH induced increase (area under curve, 314.9 91.9 ng/L·h) which was (P 0.01) than that (709.1 114.4 Mg/Lh).
