摘要: Background/aim There is a scarcity of data regarding paediatric traumatic dental injuries (TDI) in tertiary teaching hospitals. Therefore, the aim this study was to review TDI presenting Women's and Children's Hospital Adelaide (Australia) on an emergency basis identify characteristics patient cohort, their accident, management. Methods Medical health records 337 patients attending Paediatric Emergency Department (PED) for management over 18 months were prospectively reviewed. Results more frequent children under 5 years age (56.1%) with predominance sustained by males (63.8%). The accident included weekend occurrence (35.6%), most common aetiology falls (64.4%) many incidents occurred at home (48.5%). Overall, 654 teeth injured majority affecting deciduous (58.4%) maxillary central incisors (69.9%). injury lateral luxation (27.5%). referred Dentistry (60.8%). However, almost half did not require further locally subsequently discharged practitioners (39.2%). Most receiving treatment managed general anaesthetic (36.9%), there often delay 3-12 hours before commenced (49.1%). Similarly, severe permanent dentition (avulsion, extrusion, root fracture, intrusion, alveolar fracture) frequently between 3 12 following accident. Conclusion patient, are comparable what has previously been reported other studies populations. Injuries likely be within outpatient setting, whereas had 24 anaesthetic.
