摘要: The mouse open brain (opb) and Sonic hedgehog (Shh) genes have opposing roles in neural patterning: opb is required for dorsal cell types Shh ventral the spinal cord1,2,3. Here we show that acts downstream of Shh. Ventral are absent mutants, including floor plate, present double mutants. organization Shh opb mutants reveals Shh-independent mechanisms can pattern tube along its dorsal–ventral axis. We cloned by a map-based approach found it encodes Rab23, member Rab family vesicle transport proteins. data indicate dorsalizing signals activate transcription Rab23 order to silence pathway cells.
